Who I Am

I'm Richard Mann, a Head of Commercial with experience transforming underperforming commercial operations into disciplined, margin-focused businesses.

I specialise in the tough commercial challenges: reversing multi-year margin erosion, rebuilding pricing architecture, and renegotiating supplier agreements that no longer reflect market reality.

Career

My career has spanned corporate leadership, business ownership and independent consulting three very different environments that, between them have given me a commercial breadth that is difficult to replicate from any single path alone.

In corporate roles at Johnson Tiles, I spent over a decade working across national accounts, global sourcing, and ultimately Head of Product and Commercial Portfolio, managing a 4,000+ SKU range with annual buying responsibility of circa £15m, leading commercial and sourcing teams, and reversing multi-year margin erosion in a business where previous structures had failed to do so.

At Tile Space, I was brought in to build the UK commercial operation from the ground up for an international manufacturer. Recruited as the first hire, I built a team of ten, developed the pricing and ecommerce infrastructure, and contributed to circa £500k turnover growth within the first twelve months.

As founder of TSD Ltd, I built a product business from a home-based start-up to £1.2m turnover across dual B2B and B2C channels, with global sourcing spanning Europe and Asia and a four-site 3PL logistics operation before achieving a successful trade sale exit in 2024.

Through Point One Consulting I have worked with UK businesses and large international organisations across Europe and Asia, delivering market entry strategies, pricing restructures, margin recovery programmes and commercial transformation projects directly with C-suite teams.

Skills

Margin Recovery & Pricing Architecture: Reversing margin erosion through pricing redesign, supplier renegotiation, and cost re-engineering. I have done this in large manufacturing environments, in my own business and for consulting clients — the discipline is the same regardless of the context.

Commercial Transformation: Rebuilding commercial structures where accountability has drifted, and performance has suffered. Establishing P&L discipline, pricing frameworks, and reporting that give senior leadership a clear and honest picture of where the business stands.

What I'm looking for

I am looking for a permanent senior commercial role where I can apply the full range of skills within a single organisation over the long term. The roles that interest me are Commercial, Product,  Procurment or General Manager level, ideally within distribution, consumer goods, building materials, or businesses with an international dimension.
