1. Can you briefly summarise your background ?
I am a commercially focused leader with over 20 years’ experience across international procurement, product strategy, business development, e-commerce, and operational leadership. My career spans senior management, business ownership, and consultancy, primarily within product-led and supply-chain-driven environments.
2. What is your most notable professional success ?
Building and scaling an omnichannel e-commerce business from a home-based start-up into a national operation generating £1.2m turnover, operating across three 3PL warehouses, a physical showroom, and a mature e-commerce platform and then completing a successful sale. It demonstrated my ability to combine commercial strategy, procurement, operations, and execution end-to-end.
3. What has been your most challenging moment in business ?
Scaling rapidly while maintaining cashflow control, supplier reliability, and operational discipline. Growth brings complexity, and navigating that phase required difficult prioritisation decisions, tighter governance, and learning when to systemise rather than push harder. That experience fundamentally shaped how I now approach risk, structure, and sustainable growth.
4. Why are you now looking for an employed role ?
Having built, scaled, and exited businesses, I am now seeking a role where I can apply my experience within a larger organisation, focusing on delivery rather than ownership.
This is a considered transition. I am motivated by long-term contribution, leadership continuity, and embedding within a team rather than operating on short-term projects.
5. What type of role are you best suited to now ?
Senior roles across commercial, procurement, product, or operational leadership, particularly where there is:
-
international sourcing
-
growth or transformation
-
margin or cost pressure
-
complexity across product and supply chain
6. How do you approach business development ?
As a strategic process, not just sales. I focus on understanding market opportunity, aligning product and sourcing capability, and building routes to market that are commercially sustainable.
This approach has underpinned national account growth, UK market entry, and founder-led business development across my own ventures.
7. What are your key strengths ?
-
Translating strategy into practical execution
-
International procurement and supplier negotiation
-
Product portfolio and margin management
-
Building operations from early stage to scale
-
Balancing commercial ambition with operational reality
8. What would you describe as your main development area ?
I can be very hands-on, particularly in growth or high-pressure environments. Over time, I’ve learned to counterbalance this by building clearer ownership, stronger systems, and empowered teams to ensure scalability.
9. How would colleagues describe your leadership style ?
Pragmatic, calm, and commercially grounded. I value clarity, accountability, and collaboration, and I’m comfortable leading through both change and stability.
10. What types of challenges do you handle best ?
-
Market entry and early-stage build-outs
-
Margin erosion or cost pressure
-
Supply-chain complexity or supplier risk
-
Scaling beyond founder-led operations
-
Aligning product, procurement, and commercial strategy
11. What is your experience with international sourcing ?
Over a decade sourcing across Europe and Asia, managing 20+ suppliers, negotiating contracts, supporting NPD, auditing quality, and delivering structured cost reductions while managing commercial and operational risk.
12. How do you use technology and AI in business ?
Practically and selectively. I focus on how automation, data, and AI can improve visibility, decision-making, and efficiency across procurement, finance, and operations, not technology for its own sake.
13. Are you more strategic or operational ?
Both. I am comfortable shaping strategy, but equally comfortable delivering it. My career reflects progression from hands-on commercial roles into senior leadership, ownership, and advisory positions.
14. What motivates you professionally ?
Building businesses that work well - commercially, operationally, and culturally. I’m motivated by seeing clear outcomes from well-executed strategy and by helping organisations reach a stronger, more sustainable position.
15. What are your longer-term career ambitions ?
To hold a senior leadership role where I can make a lasting contribution to business performance and direction. I am driven more by scope, trust, and impact than by title alone.
